How long is therapy?
Therapy can be understood as the process of moving through four phrases of treatment.
Exploration and Assessment
Goal Identification and Treatment Course Recommedations
Emotion Processing, Insight Building, and Skill Development
Readiness for End of Treatment
Although Jennifer may be the professional in the room, you are the expert of your own life experiences and therefore are the leading voice in your treatment. Due to this, the duration of therapy is largely dependent on what you hope to achieve while in treatment. Like most things in life, you will get as much out of therapy as you are willing to put into it. For some, this may look like a targeted, short-term course of treatment to address a specific issue. For others, there may not be a singular concern in mind, but instead an ongoing desire to develop a better understanding of who you are as a person and how this informs your unique worldview.
